A Cozy Breakfast Nook

Photography and styling by Jordan Shields Design

We all know that a lot of time is spent in the kitchen area, so it makes perfect sense to add plenty of comfortable seating wherever possible.

The Jordan Shields Design Pacific Avenue project includes this light, bright seating area right off the kitchen, with expansive views of the outdoors.

The classic black and white striped custom throw pillows provide just enough pattern and visual interest to set the tone in this space, while offering plenty of comfortable seating along the custom L-shaped bench. The walls are painted in a warm, soft gray called Silver Feather by Behr.

We love to mix styles, and this space expertly blends contemporary styling with traditional accents. The Royce Pendant, with its antique brass finish, adds just enough glam and shine to the space without overwhelming or blocking the great window views.

To achieve a timeless look, choose a color palette that exists primarily of neutrals, like whites, blacks, grays, and natural wood colors. The Nadia Black Cane Chair from CB2 adds just enough of an accent with its black frame, while the cane back offers some natural texture to the space.

Finishing off the cozy vibe in this space are those soft and neutral window shades, which again don’t detract from the view, but still offer privacy and light control in this space.

We wouldn’t mind quarantining in this space at all!

A Laundry Room to Love

If you live in a home where square footage is limited and the laundry area occupies the same space as the mudroom area, then you can likely relate to this design dilemma — how to make the laundry space look inviting while still being functional.

Refresh Your Entryway for Spring

Refreshing your entryway is a great way to not only add curb appeal, but create an inviting place to hangout. Adding some new items on your front porch is a great way to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring.
